On May 13, 2008, Mrs. Eva Arons of Roslindale celebrated her 107th birthday.
Eva Arons was born in Haverhill to the late William and Rose Milender. She was married to the late Charles Arons, and is the mother of Gilbert Arons (Newton Highlands), Marjorie Gurwitz (Boynton Beach, Fla.), and Arlene Kohen (Great Neck, N.Y.). Eva is a 1919 graduate of the business department of the Boston Clerical School, and studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music. She sang soprano with choral groups in the Greater Boston area (including Temple Israel, Boston), played piano, enjoyed her bridge club, and participated in Sisterhood activities at Temple B’nai Israel (Revere). In addition, she was accomplished at flower arranging, and served as president of the Winthrop Garden Club. Eva lived in Winthrop and Revere for many years prior to moving to the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center at age 98. Eva enjoys listening to music, and spending time with her family. At age 107, she still lights up with a big smile when singing Yiddish songs to her great-grandchildren. |
