Hebrew College brainstorms as it sees its future brighten

Rabbi Daniel Lehmann, president of Hebrew College, is in an unusual position – at least for him. For four years his hilltop college has been teetering on the edge of a financial cliff: $32 million in debt, a building it couldn’t afford, community confidence at a low.

Stanten figured it out at a young age, before she really knew what the word meant. But she knew men visited the house. She knew her mother had boyfriends. And she knew parents forbid their kids from playing with Stanten and her sister.

Academy honors Schulman

Ken Schulman, outgoing head of school at Cohen Hillel Academy in Marblehead, was honored with the Edith Bloch Award at the 25th annual Friends of the Hillel Library event this month.

The guest speaker was Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, formerly of Lynn, who is now executive vice president of the New York Board of Rabbis.
