The Jewish Advocate is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization supported by community organizations and generous contributors.

For more than 118 years since 1902 The Jewish Advocate has been the voice of the Jewish Community and responsive to its needs, serving as the connection between its affiliated and unaffiliated individuals, families, synagogues, and organizations, of all viewpoints and all streams, providing local, national and international news, opinion, features, insights and a forum for vigorous discussion and stimulating debate open to all segments of our community.

Although we have suspended publication of the paper we are pleased to announce that plans are currently being developed to launch a new digital edition of The Jewish Advocate focused on advocacy, to Advocate for Jews, the Jewish community and for the State of Israel, so as thereby to continue the mission envisioned by Theodor Herzl in founding The Jewish Advocate 118 years ago “to inculcate Judaism into the community and progress the cause of the re-establishment of the Jewish faith and a Jewish state.”  It is our intention to also provide an independent forum for primarily Greater Boston news about our community and various organizations, and importantly, debate and discussion of the issues, organization and programs in our community.

The Jewish Advocate has also reached agreement with NewsBank (a premier information source for more than 45 years serving colleges and universities, schools, military and government libraries, and professionals around the world, providing archived information from thousands of newspapers, business journals, periodicals, government documents and other publications) to include the complete archives of The Jewish Advocate in its library, and make it accessible to the general public.  NewsBank is currently in the process of digitizing our paper’s archives and we anticipate having them online during 2021.

We are also open to the option that funding may materialize or our communal organizations and federation might reconsider restoring their support, in which case we will resume publishing as soon as possible thereafter.

Contributions towards these efforts, and the cost of maintaining and keeping The Jewish Advocate organization, tax exempt status, trademark, and website active for the foreseeable future, are critical, particularly now that the paper relies exclusively on contributions.

We wish to thank our many tens of thousands of loyal subscribers, advertisers, contributors, suppliers, friends and supporters, past, present, and indeed future, who have been a part of The Jewish Advocate over the past 118 years and will hopefully be a part of the new Jewish Advocacy as that materializes in the future.

We deeply appreciate the much-needed support we have received over the years from the Jewish community, so critical to continuing our strong independent reporting and role as the voice of the Jewish Community, and we ask for your continued participation and generous, tax-deductible, support.

Checks may be sent to The Jewish Advocate, 15 School Street, Boston, MA 02108.

Your contribution is vital to support the important role and function of The Jewish Advocate.
