Scholarship requests skyrocket as recession deepens

A summer of practicing the backstroke, learning new songs and making friends can come with a hefty price tag - $6,000 at some Jewish camps. Knowing the strain that can put on a parent's checkbook, local Jewish camps are digging into their own budgets to give out scholarships to the unprecedented numbers of families demanding them.
