Beth El celebrates cantor's 90th birthday

NEWTON — Congregation Beth El-Atereth Israel will have a Kiddush in honor of the 90th birthday of cantor Abraham Shonfeld on July 4. Shonfeld first came to Beth El in 1951, when the congregation was still in Dorchester. He has lived in Newton for about 40 years with his wife, Chana, who served for many years as the principal of the Beth-El Hebrew School.
