An ode to the almond

Almonds are among the most ancient nuts in the world and are even mentioned in the Torah. They originated in western Asia and Northern Africa, spread across Europe and were brought to the New World with the Pilgrims. Sadly, New England's weather was too cold for the trees, which flower in February or March, so they quickly died off.
