Grossman sees being Jewish a plus in primary
Aims to be first Democrat of his faith to hold statewide office

Steve Grossman said the last time a Jewish candidate won a statewide office in Massachusetts was in the 1950s, when Republican George Fingol was elected attorney general.
If elected treasurer, Grossman would be the first Jewish Democrat elected to statewide office. The 64- year-old Newton resident isn’t worried that Massachusetts will hold his religion against him.
