Still blowing strong
For 50 straight years, Arthur Fleishman has sounded the shofar for his Canton shul

When Temple Beth David of the South Shore was founded in 1960, Arthur Fleishman presented student rabbi David Goldstein with a shofar for the new shul.
Goldstein responded: “That’s very nice of you, now go learn to blow it.”
After being tutored by a rabbi in Wellesley, Fleishman took to the bimah on the High Holidays and sounded the ram’s horn.
